The Episcopal Church’s deposition of Bishop John-David Schofield of San Joaquin has had no immediate effect on his invitation to attend this summer’s Lambeth Conference of bishops.
A Lambeth Conference spokesperson said the House of Bishops’ March 12 actions will have an impact throughout the Anglican Communion, but “it will take some time for these [implications] to be considered properly.” The source is not authorized to speak on the subject and therefore declined to be named.
I expect that there will be some adverse reaction throughout the Communion as a result of the House of Bishops’ action, but whether or not that reaction will result in Bishop Schofield’s invitation being withdrawn is purely a matter of conjecture at this point, of course. That adverse reaction could result in his invitation being upheld, and if it is, that won’t go down well with TEC, in my opinion.
On the other hand, if his invitation is withdrawn, Archbishop Williams will “shoot himself in the foot.” Withdrawing that invitation would not be a smart move.
It will be interesting to see how this goes and what the effect will be. If the invitation stands will more orthodox bishops attend? If the invitation is withdrawn will more orthodox bishops stay away? How will this latest abomination compare with those before it and those which surely will follow along?
I’m glad God has this all worked out, but I do wish he’d hurry up and finalize the solution to this mess.

I’d be interested in knowing whether Schofield is even considering going if he is still invited. His new boss isn’t.
The non-invitations to Lambeth are a joke. The non-invitations (so far), with one exception, are only targeting “boundary crossing” Windsor non-compliance. They are not targeting “same sex marriage” Windsor non-compliance at all. Does Ingham have an invitation? Yes.
I wish the Canterbury-centered Anglican Communion was not indulging in such a high political and manipulated process.
I just received an email with an article from The Living Church that neither +Schofield or +Cox may have actually been deposed, since 51% of those eligible to vote did not approve, as required by the canons. Apparently the vote was a voice vote and only 1/3 of the bishops were still there and the vote was not unanminous at all, in fact, less to depose +Schofield than +Cox. Curiouser and curiouser.
